Review of Seed of Chucky (2004) by Jack M — 26 Nov 2013
Honestly I own every single Child's Play film and frankly I hate to say it but this has put the killer doll to shame. For a start the location, what the hell was Don Mancini thinking when he was writing this film? Honestly it didn't look anything like Hollywood because they think throwing a few palm trees outside Miss Tillly's ( Yes.
Miss Jennifer Tilly, I'll get to her later on) manor they think they can pass it off for the land where a celebrity can make a little bit of cash. Sure, there were scenes where there'd be shots of the Hollywood sign just to say "YEP! WE'RE IN HOLLYWOOD!".
So if your ever making a film to do with this god forbidden land, then this fifth instalment might give you a few pointers on how to film a sign. Another thing this film provided was bad dialogue because I did like the "playful" chemistry between Chucky and Tiffany claiming that he would like a boy and she would like a girl, since this socially awkward spawn isn't anatomically correct.
But the main cast of the film like Jennifer and Redman had some of the worst pieces of dialogue I have ever seen. Oh and that's another thing, Redman. I thought this guy was pretty cool in real life, doesn't seem like that apparently because in this rubbish he is portrayed like an arrogant little idiot who has nothing better to do than attempt to get Jennifer Tilly to suck his penis.
No joke! That is in the movie! As I said earlier, Jennifer Tilly plays herself and Tiffany! Sorry, they should have gotten Brad Dourif to play himself then! Oh wait! They tried to! This fictionalized version of Jennifer is an accident prone celebrity who is prostituting herself for movie roles and she just annoyed me so much! And last but not least the humour! This sequel follows with campy humour and jokes that may give a teenager and his mates a laugh.
Adults who grew up with this franchise will say " Your dead to me". However on the other hand, Chucky was not as good as usual but he still made up for this terrible movie. In four simple words this film was unfunny, lazy, campy and frightening and when I say frightening I don't mean it in a "OH GOD! THIS IS SO SCARY!", I mean it in a "Kill me now, please" way.
