Review of See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989) by Shane . — 07 Feb 2008
You know, it's strange. Having seen Richard Pryor stand-up shows on DVD and Youtube, I've never found him in the least bit funny. But in Superman 3, he does a good job, and in this, he's even better.
This is a very funny, feel good film, which zooms in on two handicapped men who need to work together to get out of being arrested for killing a man. It's the ultimate teamwork film, and it's an extremely funny one at that. Ok, it's not suitable for kids, but so few good comedies are these days.
Kevin Spacey isn't particurlarly convincing as the English villain, but Joan Severance is just beautiful. Unbelievably stunning.
There are better comedies out there - Airplane, The Naked Gun, Wedding Crashers - but they don't have the depth that this has.
