Review of See No Evil (2006) by David L — 07 Nov 2010
This film had it's good and bad points. It was straight into the thick of the action from the minute go, which didn't really allow time to familiarise oneself with the characters background. From that point on, it never really slowed down either, it felt like the whole movie was played on fast forward, as it was rushing through the action.
There was no real build up of tension, and it wasn't really a scary film. There was a degree of gore in this film, but a lot was left to the imagination too. I'm still left a little unclear about the motives behind the killings, but I don''t think i'm quite ready to sit through it again to find out just yet.
Having said all this, it does have the essential makings of a horror film i.e. sinister setting, stereotypical characters, plenty of cat & mouse chases, and an increasing body count. I think I was hoping for a little bit more, having been enticed by the decent trailer, but it wasn't a total disappointment either.
