Review of See No Evil (2006) by Rajansatish P — 04 May 2011
I have to say that the writer and also the film's director did a fine job on this horror movie! Usually I find some of them very stupid, senseless but this one was tolerable and not that bad. I learned during the dvd special features that the protagonist and killer is a well known wrestler.
The man is almost 7 feet tall and husky, bald and has one mean, mean look. He barely spoke a few words so acting wise its no oscar material. Apparently it is the first major film produced by WWE Films and was released by Lions Gate Entertainment.
So what is See No Evil about? A group of delinquents (four girls and four boys) are sent to clean the Blackwell Hotel in order to commute a month of their sentence. Little do they know that a reclusive psychopath named Jacob Goodnight (Kane) has holed away in the rotting hotel with his mother who turned the poor man into a pyschopath.
So one by one, Kane starts killing these delinquents - each victim is missing their eyes since he collects them and places the eyeballs in jars..There is a reason this poor man has become a savage beast and all I can say is that his mother has a lot to do with it! Overall the script was okay, much better than other movies.
Coincidentally the director (Gregory Dark) said he understood the target audience which he says is the MTV generation and how they liked fast pace and gruesome deaths. I don't think the deaths were gruesome except for Kane's- he got what he deserved! For aspiring film students, watch the special features as the director and FX gurus explain some tricks of the trade! I am sure this wrestler in real life is a very nice and pleasant guy but on this movie he looks menacing.
.Enjoy!
