Review of See How They Run (2022) by Bertobellamy — 20 Dec 2022
'See How They Run' is a mystery film that, although it uses cunning metanarrative resources, its execution ultimately leads to familiar places. Feels like Wes Anderson's version of "Knives Out"; his influence is more than noticeable, which makes the movie look somewhat derivative.
Its self-awareness provides some fun and even witty moments, but the characters are too bland to get fully involved. Sam Rockwell goes full apathetic mode for his role, and although this allows us to see another side of the actor, the story does not fully develop a conflict in him.
On the other hand, Saoirse Ronan is fine with the most memorable character of this whodunit.
