Review of Seduced and Abandoned (2013) by Manofthemoon — 22 Mar 2015
Entertaining examination of the modern realities of trying to get a film funded as Baldwin and Toback head to the Cannes Festival in pursuit of money for a proposed project (which has no script). Quickly realising that they have more chance of getting $4m rather than no chance of $25m, the duo are happy to try and play the game.
Interviews with legendary directors such as Coppola, Polanski and Scorsese and actors such as Ryan Gosling reveal the funding by committee reality of the modern studio and investor system. Nothing new is revealed, but it's a light-hearted look at 21st century film industry ways and rich investors with nice yachts.
Enjoyable.
