Review of Secretary (2002) by Laetitia K — 21 Jun 2009
It sounds sick and twisted, but the miracle of Shainberg's film is that it truly is romance. It has an integrity to the kinkiness of its theme that doesn't shake loose but you'll get more out of it if you bring your analyst along with you.
Secretary is a textbook example of a movie that's not for everybody: It's easier to respect it than to enjoy it.
...not every movie couple has to look like Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks.
