Review of Secretary (2002) by Kayse S — 10 Jan 2009
Psychologically intricate web woven between two emotionally wounded individuals. Incredibly artful with curious and sensual imagery throughout. Fascinating and provocative. Pushes boundaries I have yet to see pushed in the film industry.
Really quite uplifting, as well, if you look underneath the surface. The stunning performance by Maggie Gyllenhaal has made her my new favorite actress. I respect and admire her treatment of a remarkably complex character hinged on a very fine line.
