Review of Secretary (2002) by Jose M — 09 Feb 2009
A very compelling film, with deft performances by both Gyllenhaal and Spader. The subject matter of the film may seem aberrant, but I think it was intended by the screenwriter to be some sort of allegory for finding the person who will accept you for all your flaws (needless to say, masochistic tendencies can be a major character flaw).
Certainly an above-average effort, but not the masterpiece many people will tend to say it is.
