Review of Secretary (2002) by Nick P — 17 Oct 2010

The idea of young woman with some mental issues getting into a submissive/dominant relationship with her new employer doesn't really scream sweat love story but funny enough that's what I think it delivers.

The film is really much about Mr. Grey(Spader) coming to terms with something he finds dirty as it is about Lee Halloway (Gyllenhall) discovering a different way to gain pleasure from pain. Some of the supporting characters and stories feel underdeveloped but the central relationship is strong enough to weather that storm.
