Review of Secretary (2002) by Bastet 0 — 16 Nov 2010

This is an excellent film for those looking for something different and slightly psychological. The relationship between Gyllenhaal and Spader is complicated but all the pieces are laid out for the viewer to understand. I like that the movie paces itself and allows the viewer to take in all the people involved- and how the people around the main characters have shaped them into the personalities they are. To me, despite all the issues both of them have, I found myself endeared to the characters and really supporting their symbiotic relationship.

I was a bit disappointed with the pre-ending, but it the ending itself was perfect. Definitely a new favorite that I want to own!
