Review of Secretary (2002) by Paul E — 28 Jan 2012
Both Spader and Gyllenhaal play magnificent parts as the lawyer and the secretary respectively. They are antisocial prisoners of their own psyche, ultimately turning out to save each other from psychological demise. In their own twisted way they find out what trust is, thus confronting their demons and finally succombing to love. The 'hands on the desk - feet on the ground until I get back' sequence at the end (which is in fact hilarious) is without a doubt the most confronting part of the picture.
A film well worth watching until the end, because it is funny and tragic at the same time.
