Review of Secretary (2002) by John A — 06 Jul 2014
A Quirky And Weird Romantic/Drama Which Focuses On Subjects Like Self-Harm And S&M. The Film Follows, Lee Holloway (Maggie Gyllenhaal), In Which After A Brief Stay In A Mental Hospital, Gets A Job As A Secretary.
Holloway Develops An Obsessive Crush, On Her Boss Mr. Grey (James Spader). A Weird Relationships Develops In Which S&M Occurs. This Is A Quirky Drama, Which Sounds Like An Exploitation Flick But Never Actually Crosses That Particular Boundary.
What We Are Presented With Is An Excellently Made Drama Which Focuses On The Characters Problems & How They Deal With It & Not By Their Actions. It's Wonderfully Written, Expertly Directed & Features Some Excellent Performances From Both Gyllenhaal & Spader, Who Are Obviously At The Top Of Their Game.
