Review of Secretariat (2010) by Joan T — 19 Mar 2011
I so badly reallly wanted to love this. I thought this was going to be like SEA BISCUIT but I must say I thought it was a bit slow and dragging. We had this horse's picture up on our kitchen bulletin board at home in the 70's and I can't believe that I remember the races as a child and it was A LONG TIME AGO.
..regardless I give 1 star soley for John Malcovich I give another star for the costumes. I wanted more of the real Secretariat maybe some more of the ACTUAL races, they didn't do that. The race scenes were compelling and well directed but I thought Diane Lane was a bit wrong for the part.
Scott Glen has a small part but doesn't really have any impact. I don't even know what the real story was with Eddie Sweat. He spent so much time with Secretariat but we are not told really what his role is and what the impact of that relationship was.
A little disappointed.
