Review of Secretariat (2010) by Nate H — 09 Apr 2011

This is your run of the mill, feel good, Disney touched inspirational story which is unfortunate because the horse is so much more than that. Although the film does convey the amazing feats that the horse and the team behind it achieved; it gives it and ever so slight overtone of mysticism that I feel was unnecessary.

Secretariat was a phenomenal animal whose genetics predisposed it to achieve abilities most racehorses would not be able to or would die trying to achieve. All in all I enjoyed the film for the story it told but wish the script had been more nuanced and allowed for the greatness to really shine on it's own.
