Review of Secretariat (2010) by Monique Y — 25 Feb 2012
There is nothing like watching a horse run; its a run of freedom and fearlessness. This is a tale about a horse who was born to run and run he did. When you see this movie if you don't feel the power behind his run, be it because of the music or the actual run of the horse, I feel sorry for you.
This movie is not only about a beautiful and a character of a horse but also about the partnership he had with his owner. A woman who believed that what she was doing was right even when the past would tell others to be cautious; she herself is an inspiration.
Though others would say that it ignores other aspects of that time and of the field, its my opinion that its focus on the interactions between horse and owner give us just a glimpse of what it might have been like to feel such assured fearlessness.
It was wonderful to see the real Penny Chenery in the movie cheering on...And Diane Lane was just magnificent...Like I said there is really nothing like watching a horse run, or riding a horse as it runs, the freedom of that flight - oh I would have loved to have been riding a long for that run its must have felt terrifying and at the same time liberating.
Aww this movie was just Wow I can still feel the tension and the relief and the beauty of the run. Wow.
