Review of Secret Honor (1984) by Austin I — 09 Aug 2007
Some might call this film plodding. Altman himself could be called such. However, I had no trouble watching Hall pick through the debris and fallout of Nixon's failed presidency for 90 minutes. The fact that it's a single set film makes it all the more impressive that Altman could maintain momentum and keep me interested.
Much of this rests in Hall's performance. This film reminded me a bit of Krapp's Last Tape.
