Review of Seconds Apart (2011) by Ken T — 11 Feb 2012
Decent little horror flick about psychic evil twins conducting experiments on those around them in an attempt to experience the moment of death without dying themselves. Orlando Jones does a nice job as a physically and emotionally scarred police detective trying to discover the cause of a cluster of suicides and accidents that center on the twins.
Lots of VERY creepy moments keep this one interesting, much of which is provided by the coldly uncanny performance of the twins themselves. Seconds Apart does a good job of building suspense; the story is intricate and satisfying but never goes too far over the top.
Blood and chills are well-balanced. The one spot of annoyance comes with the character, Emily, who gets between the twins when she becomes romantically involved with one, and thus both. Her acting is overwrought and her screen presence enough to detract from the scenes in which she appears.
Still, I recommend this one.
