Review of Seconds (1966) by Rod A — 19 Mar 2009
This was a bit too conceptual for me. Part "Face Off", part "Ikiru", this film has decided its conclusion from the first frame. Perhaps it is advising us to let go and let life happen as it will.
That's a fine message, but this film is so earnestly trying to convey a message, and that is the problem. As the audience, we have no room to make up our own connections. Rhythmically, there are a few scenes (the bacchanal and the doomy finale) that go on too long.
The script just needs to let go and breathe a bit.
