Review of Secondhand Lions (2003) by Sarah E — 08 Jul 2008
One of my favorite movies of all time that is more than the sum of its parts. Part love story, part coming-of-age tale, with some action and intrigue mixed in for good measure, it has something to appeal to everyone.
The characters and scenarios in the film seem outrageous, but the stellar talents of Michael Caine and Robert Duvall make it believable and help create a deep emotional connection. Hell, even Haley Joel Osment (of "I see dead people" fame) does a great job and portrays a very endearing kid who contrasts his two uncles very effectively.
All this helps to deliver a very power and emotionally touching story life lessons you won't soon forget.
