Review of Secondhand Lions (2003) by Gipilix _ — 03 Jan 2010
A gem. A classic. Two uncles' fantastic biography is recounted through the growing appreciation of a neglected nephew (Osment) abandoned to their care. Any film with Caine is a safe bet, but Duvall completes the perfect pairing in this fascinating blend of fantasy and reality.
As Caine puts it, "Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most." More than a coming of age movie, more than a ready to die retrospective, the story entertains and delights before concluding with the strongest closing scene in recent memory.
Sensational!
