Review of Second Act (2018) by Marie A — 12 Jan 2019
Second Act is an amazing film! I've seen it twice now and it was even better the second time around. As a comedy with a woman as the protagonist, the movie is a wonderful departure from the norm as her main conflict isn't her romantic life, but her career and the lack of opportunities available for education level despite her level of skill and experience.
There is romance as well as friendship and conflicts within her past that blend perfectly into the main story. Overall, it's such a well done film. I have to wonder if the reason for the low critic score is less to do with the quality level and more to do with the fact that the film challenges the status quo and gives a woman priorities other than men.
