Your standard "gifted student" tale of a chess prodigy. It's major theme is balance in life and shows the different ways parents and teachers push their agenda on children. Based on a real person so it wanders a bit and it isn't really "about chess" if that's what you're looking for.
Lawrence Fishburn is fun to see as a skinny gangsta type.
