Review of Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993) by Luke D — 24 Jul 2007
Zaillian has crafted with "Searching for Bobby Fischer" what is irrefutably the closest you can get to a perfect film. With a quiet and nuanced story, intelligently written and sympathetic characters (adults and children alike), and skilled acting all around, helmed by a very capable director and beautifully captured by the late Connie Hall's lens (not to mention accompanied by one of James Horner's best scores), this truly is befitting of the term "Masterpiece.".
If ever one wanted to learn about what makes for good cinema, he shouldn't have to go any further than this.
