Review of Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993) by Bryan S — 27 Feb 2010
I really love this film. The story, which is based on real people and events, is strong and you genuinely care about the characters. It's a must-see for chess fans and for father who have young children, particularly on how to handle a child who is particularly gifted.
I also enjoyed the pace of the film. It allows you to reflect on each scene. They really very easily could have ruined a story like this by rapid firing through the sequences but it is well edited. When combined with the excellent cinematography, it makes for a very visually appealing film.
