Review of Searching for Bobby Fischer (1993) by Sean M — 03 Jun 2018
One of the most beautifully realised dramas I've ever seen. There is an intimacy to the manner in which this is filmed and prodigy stories get me every time. Long before August Rush ensnared our interest in the plight of a child prodigy has prodigious talent looked so cinematic. Even if you don't really understand you understand the story, A father's ambitions for his son and how those ambitions create pressures that can derail the very talent he trying to promote.
A total gem shot in telephoto lenses, keeping the focus on the characters. The editng is like poetry and the music is angelic. If you haven't seen it you're missing something.
