Review of Searching (2018) by Geekgirl O — 30 Aug 2018
It's pretty decent, what with being current with the times and the use of social media programs to tell the story without it being technologically complicated. The cast does a good job of being very realistic and human even while being "behind" a computer or TV screen.
For me, it was a pretty original crime drama mystery. John Cho does a decent job of being that worried father, though sometimes it feels a bit overacted... just a bit.
What's interesting is how much you think you might know a person when you really don't, whether they be people that you know in person or online, but it doesn't preach that lesson to you. It was a well done story and I loved that Cho played a main character and it didn't have to center on racism or racial issues, even though those movies are still needed to get people to learn. However, it's nice to have movies with actors of color like Cho who just plays a father whose daughter was missing.
