Review of Seabiscuit (2003) by Jason D — 22 May 2008
Teriffic little underdog (er.. well, horse) story that I have been putting off for waaay too long. An incredible ensemble cast does an amazing job, but Chris Cooper really shines as the horse trainer. Inspiring, funny, beautifully shot and very entertaining.
A bit like 'Rocky' with a horse. It gets a little slow and predictable at times, but with a cast like this and such a 'stand up and cheer' finale, you can overlook a few pacing flaws. Great film from a touching book.
All that, and Tobey Maguire looks hilarious with curly red hair!
