Review of Seabiscuit (2003) by Amit P — 02 Mar 2010
" You know everyone thinks that we found this broken down horse and fixed him, but we didn't, he fixed us, everyone of us, and I guess in a way we kinda fixed each other too".
That's an amazing narrative at the end of the film. Based on a true story and real life characters, Seabiscuit is a simple tale of Will power, Hope, Self Belief and teamwork. A thoroughly inspiring movie.
The backdrop of the story is the Great American Depression and how during those hard times three ill-fated unsuccessful men bet their lives on a horse named Seabiscuit. The success follows them through a hoards of obstacles, a little conspiracy to wipe out Seabiscuit's name out of the race, Seabiscuit losing his ability to race etc.
The screenplay moves at a slow but gradual pace which hooks you on to the film from the first frame. The horse race scenes are amazingly shot and at times you are on the edge of your seat while watching them. Awesome Direction and beautiful camera work supported by an excellent production design. Everybody has played their part beautifully. Nice inspiring movie to watch. Watching Seabiscuit will surely to get you out of your 'great depression' as it did in America during those times. Recommended.
