Review of Seabiscuit (2003) by Socsy T — 08 May 2010
This is one of my all-time favorite films. I loved it the first time I saw it some years back and I still love it now. I also read the book version and loved it as well. this is a story about a flawed, beat-up race horse with the fighting spirit of a lion, and the three broken men who found and guided him to his legendary status.
seabiscuit came at a time when america was on its knees. his rise to glory fueled the people's hope and inspired them to stand back up. seabiscuit embodied that very idea for he wasn't like the champion race horses who were large, sleek and beautiful.
he was small, awkward-looking, his legs were short and crooked. he had good breeding but he was badly underestimated from the day he was born because of his looks and his carefree attitude. but it was because of that oppression that enabled him to develop a spirit that would never be broken no matter how many times he gets hit or loses.
he was given another shot at greatness and he delivered with flair, beating the best of the lot. this is truly an amazing story of an amazing horse.
