Review of Sea of Love (1989) by Austin B — 09 Oct 2008
Most of the reviews I've read about Righteous Kill (as of this writing, the latest from Al Pacino) have called the film a run of the mill thriller, only enjoyable because Pacino and De Niro worked well together in it.
Depending on the critic, they might just recycled their review of Sea Of Love. It's really nothing special, and if it didn't have the chemmistry of Pacino and Barkin (or even Pacino and Goodman, who seemed to mesh pretty well), this moive would not have amounted to much at all.
It follows a pretty basic thriller plotline. The characters have some depth and backstory that you maybe don't get in every thriller, but they seem to change to fit the situation needed.
