A retiring police detective teams up with an assertive newcomer on the trail of a serial killer who punishes his victims with calculated and sadistic cruelty for their association with each of the seven deadly sins.
Undoubtedly one of the best films of the psychological serial killer thriller genre. Fincher's visual style conveys the brutal violent nature of the story with a tasteful appeal by mixing a modernist ocular approach with a timeless classic feel.
All aspects are near flawless - masterful photography, intelligent screenplay full of interesting themes and great character study, meticulous design and sure fire performances from the cast, in a film schooling in absorbing and haunting the audience.
