Review of Scum (2014) by Tom C — 28 Jun 2010
This packs twice the punch of your average 'tough break' prison movie, as it is based on a very real system which existed here in the UK not long ago, and also involves a much younger cast - some boys in the film are around 14.
It's brutal, it's uncompromising, it's racist and it's brilliant. It was rather appropriate that when I bought a second hand copy from CeX for peanuts, the case was battered and split.
