Review of S.C.U.M. (2010) by Aidan H — 08 Sep 2010
While not as shocking as when it was released, Scum still packs a wallop, mostly due to young Ray Winstone's electric turn as hooligan-in-charge of A wing, excellently supported by a host of Brit stars-in-waiting.
Although it's relentless depiction of life in Borstal borders on the documentary, some of the dialogue seems less realistic than when it first aired in 1979. Still, a classic bit of cinema from Alan Clarke's superb career and not one to be missed.
