Review of Scrooged (1988) by Platinumglitchmint P — 27 Dec 2011
Scrooged is a wacky and darkly comedic retelling of the classic Dickens tale. The movie is all over the map stylistically and tonally, so even though it's inconsistent and doesn't always pay off it stays entertaining.
Bill Murray is pretty much given free reign to go off the walls and do his thing, which works because he's Bill Murray, but he and the story could have benefited from some focusing in. I wouldn't necessarily label Scrooged a Christmas classic, and it feels slightly dated now, but at least it added something new and different to the familiar story we've all seen so many times before.
