Review of Scream 4 (2011) by Laila K — 18 Mar 2013
Here's another lousy epilogue. (this is not a remake or a reboot since the three original survivors are still the main cast) First they got all the rules wrong. Second, they followed the pattern but barely mentioned it.
Third, the movie geek humor is gone, (though the Wes Craven mockery of his own movie is still there. - note the mention of Time Travel for the fifth Stab Film- very clear reference of one of Freddy Kruger sequels)And for some reason, this movie is just an hour and fifty minutes long but it seams like eternity.
I was sooooo wishing for it to end already at the first fifteen minutes. It's only difference to slasher movies today is that they still have the original three not as cameo. This is just awful. I've been trying to live by the fact the the third Scream was ridiculous but they still got the rules right, so as to think that it didn't ruin that trilogy.
And then came this. Scary Movie 4 was stupid but its much watchable than this. Let's just forget this movie exist and say that the Scream series is 66% successful. But I do have to commend the movie-within-a-movie humor sequence at the opening.
Great inside jokes for fans.
