Review of Scream 4 (2011) by Maria S — 14 Dec 2014
Yep this movie was pretty disappointing and bad at the same time. I am a fan of the 'Scream' franchise ever since I was 8 when I seen the original on TV back in 2007. So I saw 'Scream 4' in the theatre back in 2011.
And I walked out of it saying it was "OK" but, I wasn't picky with movies back then like I am now. I re watched the movie last night on Netflix. I can say after the movie was done I had an "are you kidding me" expression on my face.
'Scream 4' has lazy writing and scares through out. The acting wasn't horrible but mediocre. The movie has a lot of horror clichà (C)s and is so not original. The plot was very stupid and forced just to have a cash grab sequel.
And yeah this movie is clearly a cash grab. The movie basically a cheesy PG-13 horror movie but with more blood, nudity, and crude language to make it rated R. The movie made me very disappointed because I know Wes Craven and the Scream franchise is better than this! They can make something good again like the original 'Scream'.
Or be decent like Scream 2 but no they go to the lazy making money route. Which I don't approve. I can say there is some good things about the movie. Half of the movie is unpredictable and has a little more thrill for a thriller than for a horror movie.
The kills were basic but the setup of the kills were pretty awesome. Some jokes were quite funny like a giggle or two. I was entertained for the most part of the film as well and was never bored. But still besides those pros, the movie is still bad and poorly made.
The other half of the film is very predictable. The characters in this movie is so obnoxious, stupid, and unlike able. The huge twist of the movie in the end was idiotic and forced to just have an explanation of the stupid unrealistic plot as a whole.
I'm sad to say that I'm going to give 'Scream 4' a D+ grading.
