Review of Scream 4 (2011) by Alexis Z — 30 Dec 2012
Action oriented horror film..However, it is very unoriginal, and like repetition of the earlier Scream movies. The violence is not just running after people, inciting fear stabbing, but also shooting people, murder in cold blood: it goes overboard with violence in the end and I didnt like it. But its not really scary it is just repulsive. The film doesnt manage to be scary, or even spooky, either. This film is thus, in my opinion, not much of a horror movie really. I think it is rather bad try at one, in fact.
The action and the behaviour of the people is not realistic. The characters are mostly annoying, as well. There is some unintentional comedy, and one or two characters are fun and have potential, such as David Arquette's and Hayden Panettiere's, but that potential is rather unfortunately not really showing enough here.
The movie is not an absolute failure, and did have a few interesting scenes, but the biggest problem, in my opinion, is the centering on plain violence instead of the scaryness.
One more thing that I remembered, which bothered me while watching the movie : the actual perpertrators, or killers, who are revealed to the viewer in the end of the film and are supposed to have been the 'ghostface' -character, are both obviously too short to have been him!
