Review of Scream 3 (2000) by Jesse M — 15 Aug 2015
An overall entertaining entry that has a lingering sense of something missing. That something of course being Kevin Williamson the writer and creator of the first two films. Now he was on board as producer and story credit, but the film lacked his brand of snappy writing.
Ehren Kruger did an admirable job stepping into some big shoes, and did bring humor to the table. The shoes just didn't quite fit him. Other flaws would have to be lack of characters you can care about.
The cast although quirky and funny at times just aren't relatable since most of them are movie stars and producers. The main trio of the series are all that matter.... well I suppose McDreamy is likable too.
Also the violence doesn't have as much punch to them, but we can thank the social climate at the time of filming which was fresh off of Columbine and the issue of violence in media. Overall it is fun, funny, suspenseful at times, but it does lack the Kevin Williamson touch.
