Review of Scream 3 (2000) by Chad H — 20 Apr 2011
I was actually pretty impressed with Scream 3. I always remember it as being the worst of the first three, but I enjoyed it more than 2 for sure. I love that the movie takes place during the making of one of the Stab movies and a lot of the set pieces happen on a movie set, or at a studio. I also liked the ending of this one much better than the shoddy ending of the last movie. And the deaths are more inventive. The opening kill scene is certainly the worst of the three, but the movie only gets better from there.
It's certainly no match for the first one, and has cheese to spare. It also has Parker Posey in a big role, which is bad as she's by far one of the worst and most annoying of all actresses.
And it wouldn't be a Scream movie if it didn't make references to trilogies throughout and keeps emphasizing that in the third one 'anything can happen', ooo, scary. Jamie Kennedy even works his way into a cameo, which I have mixed feelings about as it doesn't entirely make sense.
That's about it. Better than 2, worse than 1. That's all you need to know.
