Review of Scream 3 (2000) by Kyler D — 08 Sep 2012
Good: More blood.
Bad: Bad acting all around, copies ideas from the first film, I can't tell when it is spoofing a horror movie or when it is actually just that bad, dialogue is bad, not funny.
After seeing the first Scream film I thought it was great. It combined the perfect amount of satire with violence. There were many things about it that could appeal to the horror fan, including many hints at other horror films. The second installment was not nearly as good, but it was still watchable. This one is just bad. The only thing I found better about the series is that more blood was used. Otherwise these are the bad parts. All the acting was bad. Even the actors that came back just couldn't act this time through in many of the scenes. The dialogue is also terrible, this is most likely because they lost one of their main writers with this movie. These are the two reasons that this movie was especially bad to me. This movie copies many ideas from the first film. Such as changing the rules of horror movies again. Also I cannot tell when the movie is spoofing horror movies, or it just actually sucked that badly. Almost every time someone like comes out of a door or taps someones shoulder a scary violin thing will quickly play like that was supposed to be scary. Well it wasn't, at all. It seems like this film couldn't decide whether to be a comedy or a horror, so it ended up being just a bad horror. I am very disappointed to hear they made a Scream 4 after saying this would be the final episode in the trilogy. I have a feeling it will be bad.
