Review of Scream 2 (1997) by Ken S — 06 Oct 2011
"Scream 2" is a successful and good horror sequel even though it is not as good as the original film. The screenplay is still good with some more razor-sharp wit and winks to the audience that involves "Stab", the movie-within-a-movie.
The performances from the returning cast members were just as good with Neve Campbell selling Sidney's trauma very well with a hint of delusions. Liev Schrieber and Timothy Olyphant were great additons to the sequel.
Even though the killer's identity is suprising, the killers were secondary characters that no one even would have guessed even if they life depended on it. The running time is a bit too long for a horror film where they could have trimmed under two hours.
