Review of Scream 2 (1997) by Skyler I — 16 Jul 2011
What Scream 2 does is take everything that made the first film so original and unpredicatble, and kick it into overdrive. Nothing in this film happens as you expect it to happen, which is a breath of fresh air.
Kevin Williamsons writing and Wes Cravens direction are both as great as ever. Personally, I think there wasn't anyone else who could have directed these movies. Craven's vast knowledge of the horror genre allow him to create a legitimately scary film that is both a great horror film and a great spoof.
This is the rare horror sequel that doesn't disrespect the first film and is actually just as smart, if not more so, than the original.
