Review of Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015) by Antoin D — 27 Jul 2016
In the world of 'Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse,' Zombies can shoot guns and pole dance. Ben, Carter and Augie (Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller and Joey Morgan) find this out together when after a scout camping night, they realize the whole town has succumbed to a zombie infection.
They team up with hot cocktail waitress Denise (Sarah Dumont) to kill the zombies; I guess Ben wants to get the girl but who cares. The movie is well made and is filled with hit and miss humour. A horror/comedy hybrid, the movie is funny more often than it is frightening.
While most of the humour hit for me personally, such as a scene where Ben holds onto a zombie's penis to prevent himself from falling out of a window, some of it is a little lowbrow and crappy. The script also has some issues despite the action and the special effects being fairly competent.
Just how in the hell can a fat kid from the suburbs make a bomb so quickly? If you are looking for a zombie movie to fill your night with, this isn't a bad option as I found it mostly entertaining.
