Review of Scott Walker: 30 Century Man (2007) by Jose P — 09 Dec 2007
They say there is a fine line between genius and madness and in Scott Walker there is a man who teetering on the border of both.
This docu film Charts the life and career of Scott Walker, it goes some way to explain just how influential he is. Featuring exclusive footage of his most recent work with David Bowie as well as comments from a huge list of musicians, all expressing their thanks and memories.
I new nothing about Scott Walker before I watched this film apart from some of the early Walker brothers tracks. I never knew how influential he was on so many rock and pop stars.
It a shame we had to hear from the moronic talentless Marc Almond.
Listening to his early music you realise what a fantastic voice the man had and some of his solo work in the 70's is mesmeric ally brilliant and you can see how so many artists loved his work.
There is a big problem though. Scott Walker is something of a recluse and you get the feeling that for him to take part in the film he wanted his latest work to be included in the film and believe me it is not good. It is head ache inducing dross that is so off the beaten track that although some people might call it genius anybody in their right mind will call it terrible. It actually spoils the last 20 minutes of the film.
Fascinating but migraine inducing.
