Review of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) by Charles D — 29 Apr 2013
A hell of a lot of fun. Awesome visuals and refreshingly different style, with a great, unique soundtrack. I wish there was more singing like the first number from the indian pirate ex-bf. Casting Michael Cera as himself in the role of Scott Pilgrim was a mistake that deeply undermined the movie's potential impact/reception.
Seeing Michael Cera repeat his same awkward/shy teen routine and then suddenly macking on chicks left and right and whipping ass produces significant cognitive dissonance. If he could have just differentiated his performance a little bit from his tired old "im playing myself" schtick the movie would have been way better.
