Review of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) by Rex A — 13 Feb 2014
This is one of my favorite films. Edgar Wright does simply incredible justice to O'Malley's spectacular graphic novel series, almost reaching the heights of the novels themselves. The casting is pretty much sheer perfection.
Michael Cera is the PERFECT choice for Scott Pilgrim, and the same goes for Mary Elizabeth Winstead in her role as Ramona Flowers. Despite rolling SIX books into one adaptation, it rarely feels rushed or unnatural.
The spirit of the narrative is preserved and a lot of the comic book pizazz is worked in splendidly. The character development is spot-on and, despite the crazily over-the-top story, it's more emotionally satisfying than most films out there.
If you haven't seen this as well as read the books, you haven't lived.
