Review of Score: A Film Music Documentary (2017) by John C — 29 Jun 2017
SCORE: A Film Music Documentary, a celebration of film music and its composers, is as long-overdue a film as they come. Director Matt Schrader has orchestrated a masterful symphony here, outlining historical trends, highlighting personalities, and illuminating processes in a well-balanced 94 minutes.
The film contains more than enough interview gems to appeal to hardcover film music fans, but it's also broad enough to appeal to a wider audience. From its first frame to its last, SCORE oozes an infectious passion for the craft that is bound to capture audiences' imagination (because, "People love what other people are passionate about.
"). I'm just happy that I can now recommend this documentary to those who say, "You listen to film music? Why?".
