Review of Scoop (2006) by Nicholas L — 25 Sep 2008
A solid three-star comedy.
A clever story that is well-executed and is very engaging.
Woody is great as usual and brings his father-like charm to the table while justifying the comedy side of the flick.
Hugh Jackman is brilliant and has still not suffered an "average" performance. The guy is simply awesome.
Scarlett Johansson does a decent job but certain things are questionable about her character. Her actual intelligence levels are never fully established and her wit either illuminates the whole room or she seems completely brain dead.
Either way, the direction is sharp, the performances are perfect and the story itself contains plenty to keep most folks satisfied.
