A talented cast, but is just an okay movie. A decent attempt at a prequel that could have been better, but the TV movie budget shows. The CGI Scooby doesn't get much screen time (even though its a Scooby-Doo movie) which is probably for the better since it's only a decent special effect as well as the ghosts.

!!!SMALL SPOILER ALERT!!!

Speaking of the ghosts, enough with them being real! It worked for ZOMBIE ISLAND, but just doesn't cut it anymore when it's used in a ridiculous way like in this one. Go back to the bad guy in mask formula, it worked for the orignal shows and made for better mystery.

!!!END OF SPOILER!!!

Story is alright and managed to be a little better then I expected with some good lines and laughs that are unfortunately scattered throughout the movie, so they're somewhat far apart.

Still props to the cast of new up and comers. Palatas , though he doesn't surpass Matthew Lillard's performance, does a good job as a younger version of him. Kiyoko also nailed the voice and passes for a mini version of Linda Cardellini's Velma.

If they try to do another one then 1) they need a bigger budget and 2) a better story that is more like the originals. They've got a strong cast, so if they nail those two things then I think they might have something.

"Vice Principal Grimes you have to believe me! We didn't do any of this, it really was the ghosts, they locked us in the freezer. Oh and ate all the ice cream too.".
